Winter Morning Stovetop Potpourri

A simmering pot of this stovetop potpourri is the perf backdrop to a cold and cozy day at home.


On cold winter weekend mornings, especially if there’s a fresh blanket of snow outside and it’s going to be a cozy day at home, I love to wake up early and bring a pot of this Winter Stovetop Potpourri to a slow, calm, purring simmer.


All you have to do is keep an eye on the evaporation and continue replenishing the water throughout the day, and your home will smell like a truly comforting, cozy, loving winter wonderland.

Cook Time: Maintained Simmer


Ingredients

1 orange, sliced into ½-inch wide slices

½ cup fresh or frozen cranberries

1 sprig fresh rosemary

1 teaspoon cloves

2 whole star anise

2 cinnamon sticks


Directions

  1. Add all ingredients to a medium size pot. Bring 6 cups water to a simmer. Keep over low heat for as many hours as desired. Keep an eye on the pot to check water level, adding water as needed throughout the day. Once you’re done, discard ingredients.
